I'm a very creative writer. I more prefer to write stories over research papers, and I would rather make up my own details than to have to hunt them down somewhere. I'm also a procrastinator. People always think that bad work comes from procrastination, but I tend to do my best work when I do that. I find that I work really well under pressure, and I'm good at making game time decisions. I like this about myself, but I also kind of hate it. I always end up stressing myself out way too much and I really hate that. By now, I know myself and how I work, so I can usually get all my stuff done in time, but I always stress myself out. Oh well (: What really helps my writing is when I am truly interested in what I'm writing about. If I don't care at all about the topic, then chances are, my writing will reflect that. That means that uninteresting topics really hurts my writing. What also hinders my ability to do my best work is when certain guidelines are set that I don't typically follow. I don't like writing in 3rd person, I don't like anything but MLA format, I don't particularly like research papers, and I really don't like harsh graders. That last one doesn't effect my writing, it just annoys me, but I thought I'd include it.
Even though English/writing is my favorite subject, and I always do really well in those types of classes, I can't say that I'm sad I'm done with them. School is school and now I'm just one step farther towards getting my credits out of the way. That makes me really happy. I do, however, plan to use all of the writing skills I have learned over the years to make the most out of my education. I hope that all of my papers will be done well and have a lot of rich substance to them. I hope that every person that reads my papers think, "wow that was a great paper," when they're finished with them. It's an unrealistic thought, but a girl can dream, right? I joke, but I am actually really proud of how far I have come with my writing skills, and this class definitely deserves a big THANK YOU! for all that it has taught me.
